FableType is a handcrafted installation artwork by Chandra Brooks that creates extraordinary fine art portraiture through immersive public experiences.

Created through analogue photography, sculptural installation and theatrical light, every FableType transforms the act of being photographed into a participatory work of art.

Inspired by Chandra Brooks' ongoing research into narrative portraiture, Black Aesthetic Philosophy and the universal fairytale, each installation invites visitors to become the authors of their own visual story while leaving with museum-quality portraits created through experiencing the artwork.

Museums, galleries, festivals, universities, brands and cultural organisations present FableType as a living artwork, inviting audiences to observe, participate and experience portraiture as both performance and artistic encounter.
